Organic Sheets

When you spend over 1/3 of your life in your bed, this is one of the areas that you don't want toxic chemicals surrounding you.

Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, or genetically modified crops.

Another option for greener sheets is bamboo. Bamboo takes fewer resources to grow than cotton, even organic cotton. Bamboo has a natural resistance to pests. To process the bamboo requires a chemically intensive process, so look for cloth that is mechanically processed.

Bamboo sheets may be hard to come by but they are becoming more main-stream. You can find them at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

Other things to look out for is how the sheets are dyed. Look for vegetable-based or heavy metal free dyes.

Watch out for chlorine-bleached sheets as well. Look for cloth that has been unbleached or chlorine-free bleach.
