CFLs - First step to Green

CFLs (Compact Fluorescent lights) are the quickest and easiest step to begin the path to a greener lifestyle. Each compact fluorescent light uses only 25% of the energy required by the comparable incandescent light. If you remember the days of harsh fluorescent tube lights in school that buzzed and flickered, these are not the same. CFLs provide an instant-on, more warmer light and can reduce your electric bill each month. CFLs also last about 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. Most CFLs are rated to last 10 years.

To determine which CFL is right for you, look at the current lumen rating for your incandescent light bulb and find the comparable lumen rating in a CFL. They also offer CFLs that can be used in wall sconces and chandeliers as well as flood and directional lights.

CFLs can be found at most retail stores and for as little as $8.99 for a 3-pack.
